Straight To The WalMart Parking Lot For The Night

I didn’t have a car a month ago.

I had nowhere to live.

I was sleeping on the floor of my friend’s office.

I had to pass on a couple of money gigs coz I couldn’t find a ride that could handle both my equiptment and me.

I tried to buy a used car but was told my down payment was not enough.

I found an affordable room to rent but it wasn’t ready to be occupied. “That,” said the landlord, “is gonna take a while.”

I was carless, homeless and, almost, jobless when I gave in and said a prayer for help.

A couple of days later, I received a call from a finance company referring me to a Mitsubishi dealership. The telemarketer said, “They work with folks like you. People newly bankrupt. And they help you get a car.”

I wasn’t expecting much when I showed up for my appointment. I was not prepared. I couldn’t find my 2014 tax return and I had no clue where I put my last two pay stubs. I was ready for “can’t help ya.” I was ready to leave the showroom the same way I entered…on foot.

Boy, was I surprised when I was given the keys to a 2015 Mitsubishi Lancer. No down payment, the dealer paid my first month’s insurance,  a handshake after I signed on the designated line and I drove that new car…

“I” wasn’t expecting much; “I” couldn’t find my 2014 tax return. Last ditch prayer (hm, good idea). Did it work, or what?? Thank you so much for sharing this.

  2. A fine turn of events for you. Thanks for sharing your story.
