Probably Always Will

I’m sitting at the morning meeting writing this post. The topic is “Being a Chameleon When Drinking.”

All these folks around the table saying they never felt like they fit in with the folk around them.

Well, I still don’t feel like I fit in with the folk around me.

That’s why, after thirty seven years of abstinence from alcohol and other drugs, I don’t sit at the table.

I prefer the chair against the wall.

Always have.

I am a songwriter, poet, blues singer, and a boogie woogie piano player. I have a grandson but I have no children of my own. All my women have wised up and left me. I was a bum, a wino, a drug/alcohol counselor, a prevention/intervention specialist and a pretender. I have no more time to pretend.
